San Jacinto Monument
World's tallest masonry column (567 ft), commemorating the 1836 Battle of San Jacinto. A nine-pointed star caps the obelisk; the surrounding battlefield park covers 1,200 acres with a reflecting pool and the Battleship Texas (in dry-dock restoration off-site).

What works here
Long-axis approach shot from the reflecting pool is the iconic frame — south-facing, best in late afternoon. Observation deck atop is ticketed and gives 360° aerial views of the Ship Channel. No drones over the battlefield.
