Mecom Fountain

Three-tiered fountain in a traffic circle at the south end of Main Street, framed by the Warwick Hotel and Sam Houston statue. Quintessential "establishing shot" for the Museum District.

What works here

Shoot from the southeast corner of the circle to get the fountain plus the downtown towers in the same frame on a long lens. Don't cross into the traffic island — work from the sidewalk. After dark the fountain is lit and traffic streaks read well on a tripod.

Practical

Plan the shoot

Best time

Blue hour for fountain lights + traffic streaks

Lighting

Sidelit by sunset around 7 PM; lit at night with warm uplights.

Crowd

Low pedestrian; high vehicle traffic — keep off the median

Parking

Side-street parking on Montrose Blvd or N Macgregor

Noise

Moderate to high — busy intersection

Permit

No permit required.
